"Quarkonial frames - theoretical properties"

Date: Wed, September 28, 2011

Abstract: Multilevel atomic decompositions are well studied, both with respect to the theory of function spaces and from a numerical point of view. Quarkonial decompositions are a version of very redundant decompositions which relates to hp-type partition of unity methods and is still widely unexplored. We prove the frame property of quarkonial frames (originally a result by Triebel) using an alternative approach, and achieve better weights in the coefficient norms. Joint work with Dahlke (Marburg) and Raasch (Mainz).
