Abstract: The equivalence of Oppenheim conjecture on the values of irrational quadratic forms to the unboundedness of the non-compact orbits of the action of SO(2,1) on the space of lattices, SL_n(R)/SL_n(Z), will be shown. This will be followed by an explanation of the main ideas behind Margulis's proof of the dynamic statement.
