Abstract: I am going to give some examples of techniques which reduce problems in characteristic zero to a problem in characteristic p (which is solvable). Also, I will give some really weird examples due to Asanuma, which are counterexamples to certain famous problems.
The colloquium is preceded by tea from 16:45 in the Resnikoff Mathematics Common Room, Research I, 127.
