Abstract: I will give an outline of Adam Epstein's proof of his refined version of the Fatou-Shishikura Inequality, in which he investigates the injectivity of the linear operator I-F_* on spaces of meromorphic quadratic differentials, giving an extension of Infinitesimal Thurston Rigidity to poles of any finite order in order to arrive at a non-perturbative and more algebraic proof of the classical result.
