Abstract: Once you define style, you can ask whether there is style in mathematics. In order to explore this notion, I turn to French literature for inspiration and the work of Raymond Queneau, Exercises in Style. I will discuss my pastiche of this work intended for mathematics and the surprises, insights, and delights found there. A talk for every level of anyone interested in mathematics.
The colloquium is preceded by tea from 16:45 in the Resnikoff Mathematics Common Room, Research I, 127.
