Abstract: I will start by giving a short introduction to Teichmueller spaces and Thurston theory, in particular, I will define Thurston's iteration map (and give some examples if time allows it). Then I am going to show how to extend this map to the augmented Teichmueller space. In conclusion, I will give an idea how to use this fact to simplify Thurston's characterization theorem.
