Abstract: We prove well-posedness of weak solutions to the generalized large scale semi-geostrophic equations, a parameterized family of rotating shallow water models. The solutions are shown to exist and be uniquely defined globally in time. Continuous dependence of the solution on the initial value can be shown up to arbitrary finite times. We intend to discuss the key steps of the proof and show some of the important estimates the proof is based on.
