Abstract: Nekrashevych conjectured that iterated monodromy groups of quadratic polynomials with pre-periodic critical orbit have intermediate growth. In my talk I am going to outline the construction of iterated monodromy groups. Nest, I will show subexponential growth for the iterated monodromy group of z^2+i. It was the first non-trivial example supporting the conjecture, which also shows the difficulties that arise in attacking it. The talk will be based on the paper of Bux and Perez.
