Abstract: In this talk, I shall discuss the influence of nonlocal terms in two classical models of reaction-diffusion equations, the Fisher-KPP model and the cubic-Allen-Cahn equation. These equations are typical examples which illustrate the effects nonlocal terms can have on steady states as well as travelling wave solutions. These types of solutions form the backbone of many mathematical modelling approaches across all natural sciences.
The colloquium is preceded by tea from 10:45 in the Resnikoff Mathematics Common Room, Research I, 127.
