Fall Semester 2002

Engineering and Science Mathematics I

Overview:
This is the basic mathematics course for all students in the School of Engineering and Science. It introduces the fundamental mathematical knowledge which is needed by every scientist. Emphasis is on the use of mathematical methods in the sciences, rather than on detailed proofs of the mathematical machinery. This course will be offered in various modules, some of them parallel, in order to accommodate different backgrounds in the mathematical education of incoming students, and in order to serve different needs for different scientific disciplines. Topics covered include: calculus, linear algebra, statistics, differential equations.
